Turn off mobile data for most time to save battery, turn on for 10s/min to get updates.
In desperate times, when the battery is about to die and you are expecting some whatsapp communication. Know this, the mobile data consumes most of your battery and you can't turn it off, so maybe you can turn it of for 50 sec in a min and back on for 10sec to let apps get notifications in the background.
