Hack for VLC nightlies to Chromecast when using your same phone with mobile hotspot for internet connection on chromecast device.

*** note: vlc 3.0.9x (nightly) versions may give errors file not found trying to cast! Beta versions too buggy!

*** the stable 3.0.13 version works, but you must use the other flow (non-nightly) with it

*FAKE WIFI REWORKED xposed module is required for this hack to work, and most be configured properly! See notes below.

Basically, if you start Youtube app and CAST (connect to chromecast), VLC cast button will appear, but only when FAKE WIFI xposed is setup properly for VLC, so if this script dont work, force stop VLC then start Google HOME or cast via youtube, then open vlc and cast button will appear. Note: VLC is very quirky using this hack method

*Requires root & xposed Fake Wifi Reworked module, must have google Home app installed (chromecast)


VLC background play needs to be PIP mode if you minimize vlc or switch to another app for it to cast properly.

FAKE WIFI Reworked settings:

Must select VLC and HOME in FAKE WIFI Reworked module

(1)Hotspot name = name of hotspot in android system wifi settings
(2)mac addresses = mac of wifi, found in system settings
