This flow, combined with the Button Mapper app, allows you to discreetly turn audio or video recording on and off with just a hardware button (e.g. volume or Bixby keys).
There are 3 entry points:
• toggle audio recording on/off
• toggle video recording on/off
• check recording status / take photo
Feedback is given as vibration:
• audio recording on: –· –· –·
• video recording on: · ·· –– ––
• recording finished: ··––··
• not recording: ––
Recordings are saved in the DCIM directory on your phone (same as camera photos & videos).
You can trigger the entry points how you like — e.g. you can make them app shortcuts using Automate — but I recommend Button Mapper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton. (You may need to use adb to set it up, e.g. if you want to trigger this using the Bixby key. See https://setup.buttonmapper.app )
Pick a button press to assign for each of the 3 entry points. In Button Mapper's action selection for that button press, pick "flow shortcut", this flow, and the entry point name.
Recommended setting if you have an extra button (e.g. Bixby key on Samsung phones):
• single tap: check recording status, and take photo if not currently recording
• double tap: audio recording
• long press: video recording
v1.2 (2022-11-02): added photo and removed debug logging
v1 (2022-09-06): first release
