If you've ever wondered if it's possible to trigger an Automate action from a web page or another Automate flow, this flow demonstrates a few ways to do that.
Using the Broadcast Receive block, you can trigger Automate actions when a URL containing the automate:// scheme is viewed. In this case, a sample URI Authority of "test" is used in that block to match a single action, but you can trigger as many different actions as you like by using a glob matching pattern in that field or by leaving it blank, then test the Broadcast URI output variable to see which of your valid automate:// URLs was viewed to trigger different actions.
First, start the 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 flow, then start any of these flows:
• 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁
• 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄
• 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗯 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴 and tap on the hyperlink
• Open a browser to automate://test, then use the browser's menu to 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻/𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄
Many thanks to Henrik the Automate developer for implementing and describing this feature! He notes that this is an unofficial feature which may break at any time.
